Complete Guide: How to Brew the Perfect Green Tea
Brewing green tea is an art that rewards those who pay attention. Here is our guide for a perfect cup.
Water
Use filtered or spring water. Tap water can alter the taste.
Temperature
This is the most important factor! Green tea should NEVER be brewed at 100°C.
- Delicate teas (Biluochun, Anji Bai Cha): 70-75°C
- Classic teas (Longjing, Mao Feng): 75-80°C
- Full-bodied teas (Gunpowder, Chunmee): 80-85°C
Dosage
3-4g of tea per 200ml of water (about one well-filled teaspoon).
Steeping Time
- First infusion: 2-3 minutes
- Second infusion: 1-2 minutes
- Third infusion: 3-4 minutes
Pro Tip
Rinse the leaves for 5 seconds with hot water before the first infusion to "wake them up".
