Green Tea Guide
Everything you need to know to appreciate green tea like an expert
Water
Use filtered or spring water. Tap water can alter the taste of tea.
Temperature
Green tea should NEVER be brewed at 100°C. Depending on the type: 70-85°C.
- Delicate teas (Biluochun, Anji Bai Cha): 70-75°C
- Classic teas (Longjing, Mao Feng): 75-80°C
- Full-bodied teas (Gunpowder, Chunmee): 80-85°C
Dosage
3-4g of tea per 200ml of water (about one well-filled teaspoon)
Steeping Time
Steeping time varies by infusion. Green tea can be steeped multiple times.
- 1st infusion: 2-3 minutes
- 2nd infusion: 1-2 minutes
- 3rd infusion: 3-4 minutes
Pro Tip
Rinse the leaves for 5 seconds with hot water before the first infusion to 'wake them up'.
